Natural Stone Restoration

Natural Stone can become dull, scratched and etched when neglected. We provide Natural Stone Services to bring your stone back to life.

Marble Limestone

Marble And Limestone

Compared to granite and other stones, marble and limestone are usually much softer of stone and can separate easily. Acidic substances and abrasive cleaners can damage the stone and cause etch marks. If your stone is damaged, dull or etched, you don’t need to replace it. We can restore it!

Travertine

Travertine

The holes that naturally occur in travertine can be cleaned and left alone for a more natural rustic look, or we can fill them with an epoxy filler. We also use our custom coloring kit to blend with the surrounding stone for a smoother more elegant appearance.

Terrazzo

Terrazzo

Terrazzo is a unique surface primarily found as flooring which traditionally contains marble chips of different sizes and colors held together with a cement base or in newer applications with a resin or epoxy base. Aggregates other than marble may also be used. It is often standard practice to wax terrazzo to achieve a high shine, but waxes will yellow and collect dirt over time and therefore must be repeatedly stripped and reapplied. This process can not only be time-consuming and costly but also very unnecessary. With our professional services, we can give your terrazzo floors a natural high polish that will eliminate the need for continuous stripping and waxing.

Our Process

Natural stone can become dull, scratched, etched, and dull when neglected. Our restoration process consists of a variety of diamonds that cuts the surface of the stone removing minor scratches, etching, and can also remove lippage. This process is followed by either honing or polishing the surface to your desired finish.

Keep in mind that natural stone types can require somewhat different approaches and our process below outlines the general process of natural stone restorations diamond sanding and/or polishing. For example, some scenarios might call for a coating removal, fill and repair, or a chemical clean/machine scrub to clean the floor from dirt where others may not.

scrub

Chemical Clean/Machine Scrub

Is a deep aggressive cleaning process to strip down the floor to get it completely and thoroughly clean from existing dirt.

Diamond Sand/Resurfacing

This process will remove all minor scratches and etch marks by using resin diamond pads ranging from 200 grit up to 800 grit. The higher you go up in the grit of the diamond the shinier the stone gets. Even though this is a “diamond sanding” process there is no dust. Therefore, when we are done and all cleaned up, there is no clean up left to do.

Lippage Removal

This process is done using very aggressive metal diamond pads ranging from 50 grit up to 120 grit. This process is recommended when the tiles contain lippage (uneven tiles). Using this process, we can remove the lippage to make the floor completely level.

polish

Matte Finish, Satin Finish and Polish Finish

There are 3 types of finishes that we can do to your floor, and we can accommodate any one of them on any type of surface.

Matte Finish/Dull Finish: This is done in the diamond sanding process but stopping at 200 grit and then using a honing pad to create a smooth dull finish which in turn is less likely to show wear and tear.

Satin Finish: This finish is achieved when going up to a 600 grit diamond and then buffing it to a satin finish. This is the in-between finish. Shinier than the matte finish, but as shiny as the polish finish. This is very popular with travertine stone.

Polish Finish: This is achieved when we go up to an 800 grit diamond, then we put a polishing compound in the floor and burnish it into the stone to make it pop and give you a natural looking, clear glass-like finish.

Sealing Of The Stone

All stone should be sealed to protect the stone from any type of spills that may happen. We do not just take a sealer and wipe it on with a rag or sponge. We use a commercial grade penetrating sealer. We spray it onto the stone and then buff it into the stone so it can completely penetrate the stone, therefore protecting and preserving the stone that much better. We always apply 2 application of our sealer.

Hole And Crack Repair

We know that holes and cracks will happen with natural stone and can be a less than desired look. Well don’t worry, you do not have to replace that stone. We can fill the holes and cracks with an epoxy filler. We also use a custom coloring kit to blend in with the surrounding stone.
